Advanced File Manager Settings
Advanced File Manager is a powerful WordPress plugin that lets you manage all your site’s files directly from the dashboard, no FTP or cPanel needed. You can copy, paste, rename, edit, upload, download, delete, or archive files with ease. Advanced features like flexible root directories, drag-and-drop uploads, directory size tracking, PDF previews, and multiple view modes (list or icon) make file management simple and efficient.
Beyond core features, you can customize the plugin to fit your workflow. The settings allow you to control who can access File Manager, choose a theme or language, define upload limits, manage allowed file types & much more.
Let us take you over the available Settings.

To access File Manager Settings, navigate to File Manager> Settings in the sub-menu. You will be landed on an interface similar to above.
The first setting that you will be able to manage is:

Who can access File Manager
Decide which user roles (e.g., Admin, Editor) can use the File Manager while logged into the site. By default only the Administrator of the site is allowed to access File Manager while logged-in.
Caution: If given to lower roles, users may get access to sensitive site files, so grant cautiously.

Theme
Lets you switch between Material Dark, Material Light, Material Grey, Mono, Bootstrap & Windows 10 themes to match your preference.
Limitation: Purely cosmetic, no effect on functionality.

Language
Allows you to choose the File Manager interface language from the list of available languages from the dropdown, for easier navigation. By default the language is set to English.
Limited to the languages provided by the plugin.

Public Root Path
This field allows you to set the default directory, privileged users can access when they visit the File Manager. File Manager reads the path from this field. By default it is set to the web directory of FTP.
Caution: Incorrect paths may cause access errors or expose sensitive files.

Files URL
Defines how file URLs are generated for download or sharing. By default it is set your sites URL
Caution: Must be configured correctly to avoid broken links.

Maximum Upload Size
Lets you control the maximum file size allowed for uploads(only). By default set to 0, which means the maximum upload size allowed by server/php.
Limitation: Cannot exceed server/PHP configuration limits (upload_max_filesize, post_max_size).

Default View Type
Allows you to choose how the File Manager appears for the users. You can choose to hide/display toolbar, tree, path & stats. By default all fields are selected to reflect on the File Manager. The following views could be hidden/displayed as per your preference:

Toolbar: Displays the tool bar on the top of the File Manager window, when selected. With actions like back, move to parent folder, new folder, new file, save, upload, delete etc.

Tree: Displays the file tree on the left hand side of the File Manager when selected.

Path: Displays the path of the folder on the top of the File Manager window.

Stat: Displays the stats of the file/folder on the bottom of the File Manager window like number of files in a folder, Sum of the size of files in a folder, File name, File size etc.
Only affects display; no impact on file behavior.

Hide File Path on Preview
Prevents displaying the file’s full path, from “Get info” for enhanced security. By default it is enabled.

Enable Trash
Creates a trash folder where the files/folder go after being deleted. By default it is disabled to optimize storage resources.

Display .htaccess
Decide whether .htaccess files are visible in the File Manager. (if it exists)
Caution:Editing .htaccess incorrectly can break your site.

Mimetypes allowed to upload
Restrict or allow certain file types (e.g., .pdf, .png, .jpg etc). By default all mime types are allowed.

Once you have made the necessary changes, click on the “Save Changes” button to consolidate & save the settings for future.
